well to day i have written an essay, titled the gift...

The gift

He was surrounded by total impenetrable silent darkness, as though some giant hand had dropped a thick icy mantle over the entire place blinding him…He was shocked by the surprising news. It was only a moment ago since he had talked to his grandfather and that he had given him a gift but now? His mother told him that he had passed away! How could he be dead? How could it be? He really doesn’t believe it! A throbbing pain formed on his head and it pounded harder by the second. As he watched the nurse pulled the white blanket over him tears started welling up his eyes, blurring his vision. The only thing his grandfather has left with him is the gift. As he stood by the side of his grandfather he opened the gift…

It was nothing special but a piece of paper written:” Pride usually comes before a fall”
It is a saying that his grandfather had always told him. However, during those days, he was not aware of what his grandfather’s words really meant, but now he had really regretted.

John was a gifted child. He studied in a gifted school and has always been in the top position of the class. He has always been very arrogant. He always thought that he was the cleverest one in the world. Even during exam periods you could see him playing outside while others were studying. It is also one of the reasons that had made him to be so proud of himself and being arrogant and neglect his study.

One day, john, the last position in class classmate, challenged him to compete to get the place for the scholarship to study overseas. Of course, he who has no reason to reject took up the challenged. He kept his schedule of playing for the whole day and hardly touches his book. He kept thinking that taking the exam is just another “ABC” to him. On the other hand, john has been studying day and night. He has spent all his free time on studying. As time goes by, the exam finally approached. Yet he did not revise or study and went for the exam. When the exam is over, the price that john has paid definitely was not wasted at all. His name was in! So, after all he has been defeated by the poorest result student in his class? He really couldn’t believe it and he knew jolly well that it is the fact. It was really a devastating to him.

Now that he knew how true his grandfather’s words and gift are and he had really paid a great price to receive them’fully’…
